MainPower is a community-owned electricity distributor in North Canterbury, New Zealand, supplying over 37,000 customers across almost 12,000 km² via 4,873 km of lines. The company struggled with siloed, spreadsheet-based reporting and slow, double-handled analysis that made it hard to join datasets, spot trends, and prioritise maintenance work efficiently.

Working with Montage, MainPower built a data warehouse and deployed Tableau after a successful pilot to centralise visualisations and enable self-service analytics. The rollout was quickly adopted by staff, cut hours from analysis timelines, improved maintenance scheduling through mapped insights, reduced duplication of effort, and delivered measurable time and cost savings while revealing new operational insights.
