Magazine Luiza gains fast access to sales data

Magazine Luiza, one of Brazil’s largest retailers with more than 780 stores, 9 distribution centers and offices across 16 states, faced a growing data challenge: sales and campaign information was buried in large datasets and requests funneled through IT could take days to complete. The company needed a self-service BI solution that would give business users fast, direct access to timely sales and planning data to support forecasting and decision-making.

Magazine Luiza implemented Tableau with consulting support beginning in 2013–2014, rolling it out first in sales planning and purchasing and quickly training users (dashboard creation in 2–3 weeks). Tableau dashboards now deliver near‑real‑time reports—turning processes that once took up to three days into results available within hours—and have been adopted by logistics and marketing, democratizing data access and speeding forecasts and competitive decision-making.
