Irish Life, Ireland’s market leader in life, pension and investment plans with a 200-strong direct sales force, brokers, bank channels and 175 franchises, needed faster, more timely insight to steer the business through a severe economic recession. The company faced fragmented, manual BI workflows (Excel/Access) and limited IT capacity to track critical metrics across finance, HR, sales and customer service.

In under two months Irish Life deployed Tableau Server and Desktop—connecting Oracle, SQL Server and Essbase data (about 1 million policies, 48 GB on the server)—to deliver production-strength, visual dashboards. The self-service BI model now has 35 business power users partnering with five IT staff, providing near real-time dashboards for SLA, customer satisfaction and operational metrics, speeding decision-making, reducing manual reporting and driving a cultural shift to data-driven management.
