Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership boosts quality of care for over 2.8 million people with Tableau

Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership (GMHSCP) oversees the physical and mental wellbeing of more than 2.8 million residents across 10 localities and 33 partner organizations. After devolution in 2016 the partnership inherited a fragmented analytics environment—many organizations relied on local spreadsheets and bespoke systems—limiting collaboration, A&E coordination and transparency around mental health outcomes, a key mayoral pledge.

GMHSCP built a Microsoft SQL data warehouse and deployed Tableau across its shared services, training developers from about 20 to over 100 users and enabling a single source of truth. Near real‑time dashboards (including an Urgent Care Reporting Tool covering 11 A&Es and mobile access) have improved tactical decision‑making, ambulance routing and patient flow, while interactive mental‑health reporting has increased transparency and public accountability via quarterly updates.
