Case Study: Playlab achieves up to 300% faster data-to-insights with Tableau Software

A Tableau Software Case Study

Preview of the Playlab Case Study

Gaming firm, Playlab speeds data to insights by up to 300%

Playlab, a Hong Kong–based mobile game studio behind hits like Juice Cubes and Jungle Cubes, manages more than 25 million downloads and over 2 million daily active users. Faced with millions of gameplay, purchase and level‑progression events, the team was stuck pulling CSVs and using spreadsheets and third‑party analytics that lacked flexible visualization—making insights slow, manual, and distracting developers from core game design.

Playlab adopted Tableau, connecting to Google BigQuery, PostgreSQL, JSON/CSV sources and Flurry to visualize and explore over 10 million records daily. The move automated analysis, cut reporting time from about 48 hours to roughly 30 minutes (an estimated 200–300% time savings), sped up game‑balance and design decisions, and is now being explored by other teams such as finance while scaling for future growth.
