Feeding America is a nationwide network of 200 food banks and 61,000 partner agencies that together feed more than five million people each week. The organization needed to manage complex, moving parts—sourcing from manufacturers and retailers, tracking inventory turns, and controlling donated fund costs—but spreadsheets made it hard for local decision makers to see where to focus their limited resources.

After receiving a Tableau Foundation software grant, Feeding America built interactive dashboards (including a Performance Benchmarking Dashboard) to visualize distribution patterns, cost-per-pound, and inventory metrics. The result: faster access to actionable data, clearer identification of need and priority areas, and more efficient routing of food—helping food banks concentrate on relieving hunger and getting more food to people in need.
