Charles Schwab equips more than 16,000+ employees with Tableau to advance data-driven culture

The Charles Schwab Corporation, a leading financial services firm, relies on data to improve customer experience, operational efficiency, and risk management. In 2016 Schwab faced rapidly growing demand for self-service analytics—license wait times reached months and the Tableau environment was nearing capacity as more teams wanted direct access to data.

Schwab’s IT Center of Excellence redesigned governance and support, expanded secure connections to data sources, and promoted a self-service model with an internal user community and monitoring dashboards. The program scaled Tableau adoption to more than 16,000 employees (about half using it daily), gave branch managers and 1,200 financial consultants actionable visibility into KPIs and customer trends, enabled leadership to track product adoption and satisfaction (e.g., Schwab Intelligent Portfolios), and accelerated data-driven decisions and cost-saving initiatives like paperless adoption.
