ASKUL Corp. sees dramatic reductions in manpower and cost

ASKUL Corporation, a Japanese B2C retailer, needed faster, clearer sales reporting for internal teams, merchandisers, and partner manufacturers. Creating analyses in Excel and pivot tables was labor-intensive and slowed decision-making, so the company sought a BI tool that could present data clearly and support collaborative research with partners.

ASKUL implemented Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server and launched the ASKUL & LOHACO EC Marketing Lab to share dashboards with employees and about 100 partner users (roughly 20 internal Desktop users and 60 Server users). The move cut manpower and costs dramatically, enabled near-instant, multi-angle analysis, improved stakeholder understanding, and freed analysts to generate new insights rather than build charts.
