City of Cedar Rapids - Customer Case Study

The City of Cedar Rapids faced a major downtown recovery challenge after severe flooding damaged infrastructure, while outdated single-space parking meters added high maintenance and collection costs and could not accept credit cards. To help revitalize the city core and improve parking convenience, Cedar Rapids turned to T2 Systems and its Luke II multi-space pay stations.

T2 Systems implemented 40 solar-powered Luke II pay stations to replace 350 single-space meters, adding wireless networking, pay-by-space operation, and multiple payment options including cash, credit card, coupons, and pay-by-phone. The result was stronger public adoption, a 67% credit-card transaction rate, a 104% increase in validations, and a 43% rise in net revenue in 2012, while about $120,000 in operating costs was reallocated to community projects.
