Emergency app alerts San Diego County residents when there’s trouble in paradise

San Diego County Office of Emergency Services needed a faster, more reliable way to communicate emergency information to a growing and diverse population, especially as wildfires, flooding, storms and other hazards increased. With website traffic spikes, declining landline use and a large Spanish-speaking community, the county turned to AT&T Business for a mobile-first emergency communications approach.

AT&T Business helped launch the SD Emergency mobile app, which delivers alerts, preparedness resources, evacuation routes, shelter locations and recovery information in English and Spanish across multiple operating systems. The solution improved emergency preparedness and real-time communication, reduced reliance on outdated channels, and expanded access for residents and visitors; the county also moved its emergency portal to the cloud to better handle traffic surges and improve reliability during major events.
