Chester County transforms emergency communications to speed information to first responders

The County of Chester Pennsylvania, through the Chester County Department of Emergency Services, needed to replace slow, outdated emergency communications systems that were nearing end of life. Working with AT&T Business, the county sought a faster, more secure, future-proof mobile data solution that could improve information sharing for first responders and prepare for Next Generation 911 and FirstNet.

AT&T Business implemented a commercial data plan and mobile gateway solution from Sierra Wireless across 650 emergency response vehicles, extending the county’s enterprise network into the field with FIPS 140-2 compliance. The upgrade improved access to CAD, records, photos, maps, and real-time data, streamlined dispatch and response, and helped Chester County become the first in Pennsylvania to subscribe to FirstNet, boosting public safety communications and readiness for high-traffic emergencies.
