The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) needed a more reliable, efficient way to collect, track and analyze air-sample canisters and lab results across the state. The agency faced repetitive data entry, hard-to-upgrade proprietary devices, and the challenge of maintaining an auditable chain-of-custody for each canister. TCEQ contracted SyntegraTech to modernize data collection using SYWARE tools, including the Visual CE development environment and SYWARE’s mEnable wireless synchronization.

SyntegraTech delivered a PDA-based workflow running on rugged PAT PT-900 devices that uses bar codes, drop-down validated lists and SYWARE’s Visual CE forms, with mEnable providing instant wireless synchronization to an MS Access desktop and daily upload to the central reporting system. The SYWARE-enabled solution sped data entry, reduced errors and repetitive typing, kept handhelds lean by auto-deleting uploaded records, and produced immediate, auditable chain-of-custody and lab data—allowing faster processing and quicker detection of air-quality anomalies.
