Handheld Database Application Provides Options for Mobile Sales Forces

Bravo Software, a Kilbride, Ontario software firm, faced the common challenge of mobile sales forces relying on paper forms and disconnected processes that required re-keying, introduced errors, and caused shipping delays and lost orders. To avoid costly low-level development and speed time-to-market, Bravo Software adopted SYWARE’s Visual CE (for Pocket PC/Windows CE) to build a handheld-enabled version of its RemoteDesk application that integrates field data with central accounting systems.

Using SYWARE’s Visual CE, Bravo Software deployed RemoteDesk on handhelds (e.g., Compaq iPAQ) so reps can capture orders, scan bar codes, print receipts, and synchronize via docking or email to a desktop “traffic cop” that posts batches to the accounting system. The SYWARE-based solution eliminated manual re-keying, reduced errors and administrative backlog, enabled next-day shipping in many cases, and supported new trade-show and barcode workflows—measurable improvements in order accuracy and fulfillment speed.
