Being global without compromising client data privacy: the role of machine translation at Lombard Odier

Lombard Odier, a global leader in wealth and asset management with 26 offices worldwide, needed a professional translation capability that would improve multilingual internal communication while protecting highly confidential client data. To avoid insecure online tools, the bank’s IT and communications teams sought an in‑house solution and selected SYSTRAN’s machine translation offering for its reputation and ability to deliver secure, on‑premises translation.

SYSTRAN implemented a proof of concept and deployed its machine translation via an intranet web interface and an email‑server integration (with APIs planned), covering eight languages including English, German, Chinese and Japanese. The SYSTRAN solution enabled quick post‑edited translations of minutes, documents and emails, significantly reduced the risk of confidential data leaks, and cut growing translation costs while streamlining daily workflows across the firm.
