Sharp Partners with Systech For a Non-Additive Product Authentication and Supply Chain Security Solution

Sharp Packaging, part of UDG Healthcare, is a global contract packaging leader serving the top pharmaceutical companies from eight facilities and more than 100 packaging lines. For nearly a decade Sharp Packaging has partnered with Systech and invested in Systech’s UniSeries serialization platform, but escalating counterfeit and diversion threats meant clients demanded an additional, non‑additive layer of product authentication beyond traditional serialization.

Systech deployed UniSecure®, its non‑additive mobile authentication solution that derives an e‑Fingerprint® from native barcode micro‑variances so supply‑chain partners can authenticate products in the field. Since early 2018 UniSecure has been deployed with clients in the US and Europe, giving Sharp Packaging enhanced product authentication, supply‑chain security and brand differentiation; throughput testing proved a minimum of 330 e‑fingerprinted pieces per minute (subsequent upgrades increased this to 1,200/min), and Sharp plans to roll the Systech solution across all 100 lines to scale the benefit.
