The Multinational Alcoholic Beverage Company, one of the world’s largest distillers producing 16 top‑shelf spirits and distributing to over 180 countries, faced widespread counterfeiting in India—bottle duplication and refilling—that threatened revenue and consumer safety. After evaluating 15 technologies, the company selected UniSecure® from Systech, a non‑additive authentication solution powered by digital e‑Fingerprint® technology, to meet its needs for anti‑copy protection, market surveillance, ease of use, analytics and cost‑effectiveness.
Systech implemented a field pilot applying e‑Fingerprint to 1.5 million units at the label supplier using the UPC barcode, then enabled inspectors to authenticate products in market via the Systech mobile app; non‑e‑Fingerprinted/counterfeit labels consistently failed authentication and genuine items verified in real time. The pilot delivered excellent accuracy and response times, included an automated winder stoppage to prevent uncaptured barcodes from entering the market, and prompted the customer to move to production rollout across four major spirit brands in India—demonstrating measurable scale, improved supply‑chain confidence and the basis for broader anti‑counterfeiting collaboration led by Systech.
