Fast Global Deployment of Standardized Pharma Serialization Boehringer Ingelheim

Boehringer Ingelheim, a top-20 global pharmaceutical company, needed to replace its incumbent serialization vendor at three newly acquired manufacturing sites (Barceloneta, Puerto Rico; Toulouse and Lentilly, France) with a hard production-ready deadline of July 2019. Facing significant business risk and persistent reconciliation problems from end-of-batch aggregation, the company turned to long-time partner Systech to deploy a serialization solution across the sites.

Systech delivered a turnkey, standardized deployment using trusted partners (Ultimate Solutions and Inno4Life) with Systech software preinstalled on serialization-ready equipment, and implemented real-time Level 3 aggregation that assigns carton numbers to cases on the fly to eliminate reconciliation errors and end-of-batch delays. The standardized, configurable (not coded) solution supported post-lot rework and enabled all three sites to be fully validated and in full production within six months—meeting the July deadline—while Boehringer Ingelheim reported that Systech exceeded expectations and left the sites ready for further solutions like UniSecure.
