Windings Powers Up with SYSPRO

Windings, Inc., a Minnesota-based manufacturer of custom electromagnetic motors and assemblies, faced complex, highly specialized customer requirements and mixed-mode manufacturing (make-to-stock and make-to-order) that their legacy IBM System 36 could not handle. To modernize operations and gain flexibility for custom programming and analytics, Windings selected SYSPRO ERP Software (implementing core functions such as Bill of Materials, Sales Orders, MRP, Work in Progress and SYSPRO Analytics).

SYSPRO ERP Software was implemented (with RTE assisting) and integrated with Windings’ shop-floor systems, using trial kitting and custom electronic forms to automate BOMs, purchasing, scheduling and real-time job status updates. The solution delivered major efficiency gains — Windings grew 600% over 12 years while office headcount remained virtually unchanged — plus reduced inventory levels, improved customer service through real-time floor data and earlier delay warnings; Windings is now evaluating additional SYSPRO CRM and Workflow capabilities.
