PEN Locks up Efficiencies with SYSPRO

PEN Products (Prison Enterprises Network), a division of the Indiana Department of Correction operating 12 manufacturing and farming units with about 80 users, needed to automate the flow of business information across diverse operations, achieve fiscal self-sufficiency, and compete with private-sector providers while operating in a governmental/correctional environment. To meet these needs, PEN selected SYSPRO ERP Software and deployed SYSPRO enterprise modules (financials, Work in Progress, MRP, B2B trading, product configurator, e.net Manager and office automation) as a single, flexible solution for its many business units.

SYSPRO ERP Software was rolled out in phases, centralizing accounting and distribution on a single database and bringing 11 manufacturing and farming sites online via dial-in and LAN connections. The SYSPRO implementation coordinated purchasing, production and shipping, enabled monthly financial statement production for the first time, delivered dynamic visibility of sales, inventory and shipments, and improved decision-making—providing a smooth, cost-efficient rollout without program modifications.
