A Sysomos Case Study
Georgia State University, a diverse, industry-focused urban research institution, needed a better way to use social media to connect with prospective and current students, promote its brand, and support at‑risk students. Facing noisy, limited free tools, GSU wanted more accurate brand monitoring, faster responses to student questions, and a way to funnel applicants and route inquiries to the right departments.
GSU implemented Heartbeat, powered by Sysomos, to monitor its Twitter presence using dashboards, reporting and an engagement workflow that routes tweets to the appropriate teams. The university ran targeted campaigns (e.g., asking accepted students to tweet photos), accelerated response times, reduced the cost and effort of answering student questions, and began identifying students at risk of dropping out — with plans to expand Heartbeat across departments and into strategic communications and training.
