A Sysomos Case Study
Follett Higher Education Group (FHEG), which operates 900+ college campus stores generating over $2.7B in annual revenue, faced the challenge of managing hundreds of local brands and audiences that operate under their universities’ names. FHEG needed a way to train local staff in social best practices and local marketing, gain product and audience insights, and expand into Twitter and Google+ local pages — a program that could potentially create and manage thousands of social profiles while improving customer service and search visibility.
FHEG partnered with Expion to centralize monitoring and analytics, backload historical data, and deliver a WebEx training-and-certification program that routed user access through a governance tool. The platform enabled scheduling, peer sharing, and a single login for hundreds of accounts, eliminating lost assets and streamlining moderation. As a result, Follett now manages hundreds of Facebook and Twitter pages (with Google+ rollouts planned), has saved manager time, and seen proportional increases in fan growth and engagement where the software and training were actively used.
