Cactus, a full-service marketing agency working with the Jackson Hole Lodging Tax Board, was hired late in the season to help position Jackson Hole as a year‑round destination and to promote businesses beyond the well-known ski resort. With no time to build and promote a destination website and with traditional advertising focused on locals, Cactus faced the challenge of quickly attracting out‑of‑town visitors and unifying 870 local businesses under a single tourism strategy.
Cactus used Sysomos analytics to identify visitor conversations on social media, taught local businesses to engage directly with prospective visitors (for example via Twitter and the #jacksonhole hashtag), and expanded the campaign to Instagram for real‑time visuals. This community-driven, personal outreach increased visibility, created daily customer connections from social exchanges, and helped Jackson Hole set revenue records despite a low‑snow season.
