XConn Achieves First-Pass Silicon Success for CXL Switch SoC with Synopsys CXL and PCI Express IP Products

XConn develops high-performance, power-efficient interconnects for data centers and HPC; its XC50256 is the world’s first CXL 2.0 switch SoC with up to 256 lanes and configurable ports. To deliver the market’s highest-capacity, lowest-latency, lowest-power CXL switch, XConn needed silicon success on FinFET while meeting a demanding 1 GHz timing closure.

XConn selected Synopsys’ CXL 2.0 Controller IP and PCIe 5.0 PHY IP and used Synopsys’ expert engineering support to integrate and optimize the design. The collaboration achieved first-pass silicon success—meeting 1 GHz timing, latency, power and performance targets—and delivered the industry’s first CXL 2.0 switch SoC with leading capacity and reliability features.
