A Synopsys Case Study
MicroPort CRM develops cardiac rhythm management devices and needed a better way to model complex pacemaker and torso geometries for simulation. Working with Synopsys Simpleware software, the team wanted to move beyond costly, time-consuming animal testing and overcome challenges importing and preparing human body data for virtual feasibility studies.
Synopsys Simpleware software was used to process STL and image data, repair mesh issues, segment regions of interest, and generate simulation-ready FE models for COMSOL Multiphysics®. The result was a reliable virtual workflow that helped MicroPort CRM test electrode placement and tissue conductivity, with simulation results showing only 7–20% deviation from expected values, while reducing reliance on animal tests and improving efficiency and accuracy.
