A Synopsys Case Study
Teradici, a fabless startup, developed the TERA chipset to enable PC-over-IP centralized computing across enterprise networks, but faced the typical SoC constraints of a multi‑million‑gate design: tight area and power budgets and the need for a robust power network and proven high‑speed I/O. To meet aggressive schedule and performance targets, Teradici needed low‑power, small‑footprint IP and deep implementation and verification support to achieve first‑silicon success.
Synopsys supplied a complete solution of design and verification tools, DesignWare IP (PCIe, USB 2.0, Ethernet), and professional services—including static/dynamic IR‑drop analysis and netlist‑to‑GDSII support—plus a pilot design environment. The combined effort produced functional first silicon; within three weeks of initial samples Teradici ran a full‑day customer demo, and their customer demonstrated a working system to its end user within a month.
