ST Meets High Analog Performance and Low Power Goals for STM32 Microcontrollers with DesignWare Data Converter IP

STMicroelectronics needed a high-accuracy analog front end for its STM32 family of microcontrollers that met aggressive performance, power and area targets while staying on a tight time-to-market schedule. The team required a proven, low-risk IP partner to deliver a compact, low-power ADC that could be integrated without derailing system power budgets or development timelines.

They selected Synopsys’ DesignWare 12-bit SAR ADC IP (up to 1 MSPS with a 19:1 input multiplexer), a silicon-proven, low-power solution that delivered very high absolute accuracy and low total-unadjusted error. The result was first‑pass silicon success, on-target analog performance and reduced integration risk, supported throughout by Synopsys’ engineering team.
