A Synopsys Case Study
Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS), a global leader in integrated circuits and SoC solutions, needed to deliver a new HDTV chipset that combined high-quality video and audio with strict power, area and cost constraints while hitting an aggressive time-to-market. To be adopted by major TV manufacturers, the design also had to be compatible with existing broadcast middleware and consumer equipment, so SiS required proven analog IP from an experienced vendor to minimize integration risk.
SiS selected Synopsys’ silicon-proven DesignWare IP—an 8‑bit Video AFE with a high-speed ADC (about 170 Ms/s) and a compact 24‑bit, 96 dB audio codec—which met their performance, power and size targets. The IP enabled first-pass silicon success, kept the project on schedule, reduced integration risk through responsive local support, and led SiS to continue using Synopsys audio IP for next‑generation HDTV designs.
