A Synopsys Case Study
Ricoh, a global technology company known for office imaging and IT services, faced the challenge of delivering on-time, high-quality software for a next-generation multi-function printer built around a new single-chip SoC that combined three prior chips. The merged, multicore ARM-based design introduced unprecedented complexity, and Ricoh needed to accelerate software development, improve performance and quality, and shorten developer debugging cycles while retaining control over custom IP.
By adopting Synopsys Platform Architect MCO and Virtualizer (with the ARM TLM Library and CoStart enablement services), Ricoh created a virtual platform that let software teams start development five months before physical hardware was available. The approach halved debugging turnaround time, reduced overall design and development effort by more than three months, improved software quality, and integrated smoothly with their verification and design flows.
