Pre-operative Plans and 3D Printed Guides to Optimize Surgical Procedures

360 Knee Systems develops patient-specific planning and simulation technology for total knee replacement surgery. Their challenge was producing highly accurate representations of individual patients' bone geometry from CT scans so surgeons could create reliable preoperative plans and guides tailored to each knee.

Using Simpleware ScanIP and Simpleware CAD, 360 Knee imports CT data to generate detailed 3D models, automates landmarking with custom scripts, and runs simulations to determine optimal implant position. The workflow yields realistic simulations and 3D‑printed, patient-specific cutting guides that reduce manual work, give surgeons a clear preoperative overview, and help optimize surgical procedures.
