OPPO Strengthens Its Software Engineering System Ensuring security robustness with BSIMM

OPPO, a global smartphone maker serving over 300 million users and investing heavily in R&D, prioritizes user privacy and app safety as its devices and services expand worldwide. To ensure security and measurable improvement across its software development lifecycle, OPPO adopted industry frameworks including BSIMM and Microsoft SDL to benchmark and strengthen its software engineering security practices.

Partnering with Synopsys, OPPO conducted BSIMM assessments across multiple R&D sites starting in 2020, using expert interviews and a detailed report to create an SSI roadmap and targeted recommendations. After two years of assessments and implementation, OPPO reports significant improvements to its software security program, a clear upgrade plan, and software security performance that compares favorably within the industry, with ongoing collaboration planned.
