Oncological Pre-Surgical Planning, Virtual Simulation, and Surgical Guides with 3D LifePrints

3D LifePrints supported a case of oncological pre-surgical planning for a patient with a small, localized Grade 1 chondrosarcoma in the left ilium. The surgical team needed a targeted, bone-conserving resection with safe margins, and Synopsys Simpleware ScanIP Medical was used to help create the planning workflow.

Synopsys enabled 3D LifePrints to segment the tumor and bone from CT and MRI scans, build a virtual model, and digitally expand the tumor to visualize the surgical margin and optimal resection path. 3D LifePrints then produced a patient-specific sterilizable drill guide and 3D printed anatomical model for surgery, helping support accurate targeted resection while preserving the ilium.
