OCZ Achieves First-Pass Silicon Success for SSD Controller Using Synopsys DesignWare IP and Synopsys Professional Services

OCZ Technology Group, a maker of high-performance SSDs, needed to deliver its in-house Indilinx Barefoot 3 controller on an aggressive schedule while ensuring first-pass silicon success and minimizing integration risk. The team also required an accelerated, reliable RTL-to-GDSII design flow to meet performance and time-to-market goals.

Working with Synopsys, OCZ used silicon-proven DesignWare IP (including DDR2/3-Lite PHY, embedded memory compilers, and STAR Memory System), the Lynx Design System, and Synopsys Professional Services for IP integration. The result was first-pass silicon success, faster deployment of the complete SoC flow, reduced integration risk, and exceeded performance targets (approximately 97,482/92,005 IOPS read/write).
