NXP Semiconductors - Customer Case Study

NXP Semiconductors, maker of digital audio broadcasting (DAB) processors for automotive infotainment, needed to extend a proven single‑tuner SoC to support dual input streams without introducing high latencies or dropped audio frames. The team required an executable system model to reproduce country‑specific DAB modes, analyze throughput, latency and resource use, and identify bottlenecks months before software was available.

Using Synopsys Platform Architect with Multicore Optimization Technology, NXP built SystemC task‑graph models and mapped workloads to Virtual Processing Units to explore HW/SW partitioning, interconnect and memory configurations. The analysis pinpointed a data‑arrival delay to the Vectra core; after remapping tasks and optimizing DAB memory channels, the validated architecture supported both single and dual streams, reduced design cycle time, avoided over/under‑design, and enabled a single IC to support multiple tuner configurations, lowering total cost of ownership.
