Netronome Selects Synopsys’ DesignWare DDR Controller and PHY IP for High-Performance Network Processor SoC

Netronome, a supplier of highly programmable network flow processors (notably the NFP‑32xx family), needed a reliable DDR IP to meet an aggressive time‑to‑market window and ensure first‑pass silicon success while achieving high performance and low power. Key targets included supporting full DIMMs at 1333 Mb/s with a roadmap to 1600 Mb/s and robust signal‑integrity across packaging, substrates and PCB layouts.

Netronome selected Synopsys’ silicon‑proven DesignWare DDR3/2 controller and PHY, which provided features like per‑bit deskew, full write‑leveling and DIMM support plus hands‑on engineering collaboration. The result: the design met performance and feature requirements, achieved first‑pass silicon within an 18‑month schedule, and secured ongoing confidence in Synopsys IP and support for future products.
