MegaChips Enables Highest Security Levels for DisplayPort/HDMI Converters with DesignWare Security IP

MegaChips, a semiconductor leader powering displays, mobile devices and accessories worldwide, needed a third‑party security partner to meet fast‑changing content protection standards for HDMI/DisplayPort/USB‑C converters. The company faced tight power and data‑rate budgets, multi‑port HDCP compliance requirements, and a need for flexible IP expertise to implement the latest high‑grade protection without costly silicon re‑spins.

MegaChips adopted Synopsys DesignWare Security IP — including HDCP 2.3 Embedded Security Modules and TRNGs — and worked closely with Synopsys’ engineering team. The integrated, gate‑efficient security modules provided a tight security boundary, support for secure boot/communications and firmware upgrades, and enabled silicon success for HDMI/DisplayPort/USB‑C smart converters that deliver HDR and 4k2k@60Hz within strict power limits, giving MegaChips a competitive advantage.
