Making Code Quality a Business Priority with Coverity Static Analysis

Linx Printing Technologies, a Danaher company that makes industrial inkjet, laser, and thermal printers for food, beverage, pharmaceutical and other production lines, needed to ensure its embedded software delivered 24x7 uptime—failures on the line cost customers money. Software engineering manager Omara Williams set a goal of “zero defects,” but had to convince management and skeptical developers that a static-analysis tool would improve stability without slowing delivery.

Williams deployed Coverity static analysis, ran daily scans integrated with Jenkins and Jira, and enforced feature-branch gating so code only merged after analysis. By 2021 Linx reached its zero-defect goal: Coverity analyzed 1.7M lines of code, 97% of identified issues were fixed in year one, and the team maintained a near‑flawless risk posture while improving developer practices and QA pass rates.
