A Synopsys Case Study
picoChip, founded in 2000, is a leader in multi-core DSP silicon for wireless communications, specializing in cost- and performance-optimized devices such as femtocells. Facing an aggressive schedule for their first 40nm product and the high cost of creating and maintaining a new production flow, picoChip needed a faster, lower-cost way to migrate to the new process node while preserving performance-per-dollar goals.
By adopting Synopsys’ Lynx Design System and Professional Services, picoChip brought up a working 40nm flow in about two weeks—roughly one fifth the time of previous deployments—and at a fraction of the cost. With the latest tools and methods embedded in Lynx, the joint team could focus on design optimization, accelerating the project and saving at least eight weeks of R&D schedule.
