InterDigital Designs Standards-Compliant, Flexible HSPA Solution Using SPW Tool and Models

InterDigital, a developer and licensor of wireless IP, needed to deliver a standards-compliant HSPA SlimModem DBB core under tight time-to-market, power and performance constraints while minimizing algorithm revisions across an interdisciplinary engineering team. Their prior in‑house C reference models were hard to reuse, lacked hardware structure for bit‑accurate verification, and slowed multi‑user development and multi-rate simulations.

InterDigital adopted Synopsys’ SPW toolset and C data‑flow polymodeling, leveraging high‑quality WCDMA/HSPA model libraries and expert support to switch easily between floating‑ and fixed‑point models, enable multi‑user workflows, and run much faster simulations. The result was faster, more predictable development, reliable bit‑accurate reference models reusable across tool versions, a successful HSPA IP launch and strengthened competitive position in the 3G market.
