Fast Integration of DesignWare IP for PCI Express Enables First-Pass Silicon Success for Mobile 60GHz SoC

Nitero, a fabless semiconductor company, developed the NT4600—an industry-first 60GHz IEEE 802.11ad SoC built for mobile that delivers low power, small area and high-performance features like low-latency 4K display and peer-to-peer wireless. To hit aggressive tapeout schedules and minimize design risk, Nitero needed a portfolio of proven, easy-to-integrate IP from a trusted supplier that would meet stringent power, area and schedule constraints.

Nitero used Synopsys DesignWare IP (including a PCI Express 2.0 Root Complex Controller with an AXI bridge, SPI, CRC and bus interfaces), Verification IP and the Galaxy Design Platform tools (Design Compiler, PrimeTime), enabling full integration in under a month. The unified IP and tool flow reduced integration risk, allowed the team to focus on core differentiators, delivered first-pass silicon success, and provided lower power/area than competing IP along with responsive technical support.
