A Synopsys Case Study
Mellanox (formerly EZChip) developed the NPS-400, a new C-programmable network processor that combines NPU performance with CPU flexibility to deliver 400 Gb/s throughput across all protocol layers. Facing stringent power, performance, area and time-to-market targets, a geographically distributed and limited in-house team needed to reduce integration risk and hit an aggressive tapeout schedule.
Mellanox used Synopsys’ proven IP and tools—including DesignWare IP, PrimeTime Hyperscale for timing signoff, the Lynx Design System, and Synopsys Professional Services—to streamline integration and verification. The collaboration enabled first-pass silicon success, accelerated static timing analysis by 4×, and helped Mellanox meet its schedule while minimizing design risk.
