DesignWare UFS, UniPro and M-PHY IP Enable First-Pass Silicon Success for SK Hynix UFS Device

SK Hynix, a leading memory semiconductor supplier, set out to deliver a high-performance, low-power UFS 2.0 64 GB device for mobile applications but faced tight power/performance targets, integration risk, aggressive time-to-volume goals, and the need for JEDEC/MIPI-compliant IP to ensure interoperability.

Using Synopsys DesignWare UFS Host Controller, UniPro and M‑PHY IP, SK Hynix integrated the solutions in two weeks, accelerated its schedule by six months, achieved first-pass silicon success and moved to volume production. The JEDEC- and MIPI-compliant IP met stringent power and performance requirements (read/write up to 780/160 MB/s), enabled interoperability with popular application processors, and benefited from responsive Synopsys support.
