DesignWare Processor IP Contributes to Kyocera’s First-Pass Silicon Success for On-Demand Super Resolution Image Processing SoC

Kyocera Document Solutions Inc., a global provider of MFPs, printers and document workflow services based in Osaka, faced the challenge of developing a next‑generation MFP SoC for the TASKalfa 3554ci series that delivered innovative on‑device AI (super‑resolution and handwriting recognition), met strict cost, power and time‑to‑market targets, and remained extensible for future AI models despite limited in‑house expertise.

Kyocera selected Synopsys DesignWare ARC EV Processor IP and the ARC MetaWare EV Development Toolkit, a fully programmable, low‑power solution with a CNN engine and neural‑network compiler, enabling fast CNN execution, continuous software updates, and distribution of workloads between CPU and accelerator. The result was accelerated development, first‑pass silicon success, high performance at low power and cost, and strong local technical support—leading Kyocera to consider the ARC EV family for its next MFP SoC.
