Customized Maxillary Implant Design Optimization Using Finite Element Analysis

Jajal Medical Services needed to optimize a patient-specific custom maxillary implant for a case of mucormycosis with significant left maxilla bone loss. Using Synopsys Simpleware software, including Simpleware ScanIP, they converted CT scan data into 3D models for surgical planning and implant design.

Synopsys helped Jajal Medical Services segment the anatomy, validate the design with finite element analysis, and prepare the final model for 3D printing and surgery. The optimized implant reduced von Mises stress from 93.29 MPa to 46.645 MPa, and the patient-specific planning supported accurate reconstruction, reduced intra-operative time, and faster recovery.
