Amlogic Achieves First-Pass Silicon Success and Accelerates Time-to-Market by Six Months With Synopsys DesignWare HDMI RX IP and ARC Processors

Amlogic, a fabless SoC company that supplies high‑definition multimedia and smart TV solutions, needed to accelerate delivery of a high‑performance, low‑power HDTV SoC on an advanced process node while minimizing integration risk and keeping the design flexible for future software upgrades. Time‑to‑market and reliability were critical for their 76 and 87 Series SoCs, which target consumer electronics OEMs with demanding audio/video features.

Synopsys supplied silicon‑proven DesignWare HDMI 1.4 RX PHY and controller IP plus ARC processors (including the AS211BD audio processor and ARC EM), together with tools and support that integrated smoothly into Amlogic’s flow. The result was first‑pass silicon success, at least a six‑month acceleration in time‑to‑market, reduced integration risk, easy codec integration via a separate audio DSP and framework, and the ability to add advanced HDMI features (like 4K YCbCr 4:2:0) post‑tape‑out through software upgrades.
