AMIMON Achieves First-Pass Silicon Success for High-Definition Wireless Video and Audio SoC with DesignWare DDR2 IP

AMIMON, a fabless semiconductor company that pioneered WHDI wireless uncompressed HD video, needed to deliver its AMN 2220 baseband receiver SoC on a tight schedule while meeting strict performance, power and area targets. The team required a silicon-proven DDR2 memory interface that met feature requirements and would minimize integration risk for a complex design supporting uncompressed 720p/1080i/1080p and full 1080p/60Hz performance.

AMIMON selected Synopsys’ DesignWare DDR2 Memory Controller and hard-macro PHY (90nm), capable of up to 1,066 Mbps and optimized for low power and small area. The integrated IP simplified back-end implementation, was integrated in about a month, and helped AMIMON achieve first-pass silicon success, meet its time-to-market goals and ship the industry’s first wireless modem able to deliver uncompressed HD video—backed by timely, expert support.
