A Synopsys Case Study
Abilis Systems, a Geneva-based fabless semiconductor company in the Digital TV market, needed to deliver its TB100 8-channel broadcast-to-IP secure media processor on a very tight schedule and in a process node new to the team. The main challenges were meeting an aggressive prototype-to-production timeline, minimizing integration risk with reliable IP, and quickly deploying a complete RTL-to-GDSII design flow.
Abilis used Synopsys’ silicon-proven DesignWare IP (ARC 605/770D processors, AMBA and Ethernet interfaces, embedded memories, STAR Memory System), the Lynx Design System, and Synopsys Professional Services for IP integration and flow deployment. The combined solution enabled a six-week 65 nm flow rollout, saved about three months of development time, reduced integration risk, and delivered first-pass silicon success to meet the company’s time-to-market goals.
