3D Printing with Nicklaus Children's Hospital

Nicklaus Children’s Hospital’s Cardiovascular Surgery Advanced Projects Laboratory needed a faster way to turn patient imaging data into accurate 3D anatomical models for surgical planning and education, especially for complex pediatric cardiac cases. The hospital worked with Synopsys and used Simpleware software alongside Stratasys 3D printers to support this workflow.

Synopsys Simpleware Product Group helped develop a solution for converting scans into print-ready models, using Simpleware’s AI tools to streamline segmentation and print preparation. The result was faster creation of a heart model for a teenage patient and support for planning pediatric cardiac surgeries, while building on Nicklaus Children’s Hospital’s broader record of printing more than 500 anatomical models.
