W&W Informatik - Customer Case Study

W&W Informatik GmbH, the central IT service provider for the Wüstenrot & Württembergische Group, needed to replace Windows XP–based XP+ servers across roughly 1,300 decentralized agencies during a migration to Windows 8. To find a secure, cost‑effective alternative for local SMB file sharing and to avoid running extra workstations, W&W Informatik GmbH evaluated network-attached storage solutions and selected Synology Inc. (DiskStation and RackStation models).

Synology Inc. supplied a fleet of NAS devices—1,360 DS114, 80 DS118 and 66 RS814+—running DSM with folder‑based AES‑256 encryption and centralized mounting via the management server. The Synology Inc. deployment eliminated the XP+ servers, delivered secure, law‑compliant storage for quotes, contracts and signed documents, simplified integration and management, and protected data against theft, achieving a scalable, cost‑efficient file‑sharing infrastructure across the organization.
