WSDOT centrally manages up to 2,000 cameras with Synology

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) needed a resilient and configurable video management system (VMS) that was compatible with custom web APIs for live streaming to its in-house monitoring software. They also required a solution with centralized management and high availability failover capabilities to maintain visibility of roadway incidents.

Synology Inc. implemented its VMS and Surveillance Station on SA3410 and RS2423RP+ servers configured for high availability. This solution integrated with WSDOT's custom software via web APIs and provided centralized management for hundreds of cameras. Synology's technology reduced the workload for WSDOT's staff and built system-wide resiliency, with the project designed to support up to 2,000 cameras upon completion.
