Wiener Wiesn Fest - Customer Case Study

Wiener Wiesn Fest, Austria’s largest festival that attracted more than 200,000 visitors, needed reliable video surveillance across roughly 15,000 m² of outdoor space and 5,000 m² of indoor tent area for an almost three‑week event. The organizer required high‑definition live feeds for security, documentation and marketing, centralized management of multiple recording servers, mobile live view, and a solution that could be deployed with minimal configuration. They turned to Synology Inc.’s video surveillance offering (Surveillance Station with DS412+/DS213+ NAS, CMS and DS cam).

Synology Inc. installed two DS412+ and one DS213+ (total 40 TB) connected to 30 1920×1080 Axis cameras over Gigabit Ethernet, providing 1080p live streams at 10 fps, centralized CMS management and mobile access via DS cam; the browser‑based setup was completed in one day. The Synology solution delivered continuous, scalable coverage for the entire festival, enabled rapid incident detection (motion detection at night), centralized multi‑site recording management, and produced reliable HD recordings for security and marketing needs.
